Visiting Massachusetts

Massachusetts sheds its winter coat to welcome families with a wealth of ways to enjoy the beautiful spring weather. Outdoor adventures await at destinations like Mount Holyoke Range State Park and Pittsfield State Park, and communities from Pittsfield to Plymouth celebrate springtime with all sorts of annual festivals and special events.

Warming weather and blooming flowers mean it’s the perfect time to get out and explore the Old Colony State’s diverse landscape on a scenic driving tour. Travel along the Maritime Trail and stop in Plymouth for a glimpse into the past, with attractions like the Mayflower II and Plimoth Plantation. Or head west, to Worcester and Marlborough, in the heart of what is considered to be the cultural capital of central Massachusetts.

Visitors to Pittsfield can find a sense of the local art scene by check out the First Fridays Art Walk in the Upstreet Cultural District. Starting at around 5 p.m. on March 5th, and recurring the first Friday of every month, the event is comprised of more than 10 different shows featuring the works of the region’s best artists, musicians, and performers.

Springfield and West Springfield visitors in search of a little elegance won’t want to miss the 2016 Culture & Cocktails event on April 17th. It’s evening of hors d'oeuvres, entertainment, and chef-attended stations, museum exhibits and a cash bar. The fun starts at 5 p.m. at Springfield Museums.

Boston is known for its ever-vibrant rock and hip hop music scenes, but jazz lovers can head south to Plymouth for the 3rd Annual Plymouth Rock Assurance Jazz Fest. Held at the Spire Center for Performing Arts, May 27th through 29th, the festival promises performances by Donna Byrne, The Marshall Wood Trio, and more.

Car guys and gals make their way to Marlborough for the 8th Annual Main Street Car Show on June 5th, when countless rare and classic cars line the streets, most of which with hoods and doors open, letting visitors get a closer look. Get there early and make a day of strolling Marlborough’s idyllic Main Street – the fun starts at 9 a.m.
