Visiting Massachusetts

You’ll want to pack your best scarf and some decent gloves when you visit Massachusetts this winter. Across the Bay State, you’ll discover a wealth of premier things to see and do, along with an impressive slate of festivals, events, concerts and more. Whether you’re out in Pittsfield, or closer to the coast in cities like Rockland and Chelmsford, you’ll no doubt have a blast this winter in Massachusetts.

Any visit to Massachusetts during the winter should no doubt include some time on the slopes. The state is peppered with excellent ski destinations from Haverhill to Hancock. Many visitors get their winter skiing fix at the Jiminy Peak Ski Area in Hancock, while others enjoy Ski Bradford in Haverhill. In Westford, just north of Concord, you can also find the Nashoba Valley Ski Area, ideal for a winter visit.

One of the most historic destinations within Massachusetts is Plymouth – be sure to make the most of your time here. In Plymouth you can visit the iconic Plymouth Rock, enjoy a tour of the Pilgrim Hall Museum, or cast your gaze upon the Mayflower II.

Enjoy a festive and illuminating holiday celebration in Plymouth. On December 2nd be sure to check out the annual event Christmas in Historic Plymouth. From 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. this picturesque neighborhood near downtown will be awash in multi-colored lights – there’s also a parade, and a meet-and-greet with Santa at the Plymouth Center for the Arts.

On December 22nd you’d be well advised to check out the annual Forefathers Day Parade in Plymouth. Starting on Court Street, this festive and historic parade heads for North Street, then curves to Coles Hill, and makes it’s way back to complete the loop. It all get’s going at noon.

Be sure to explore the areas in and around Harvard University out in Cambridge. On December 3rd you can experience the event Folding, Refraction, Touch: Modern and Contemporary Art in Dialogue with Wolfgang Tillmans. The event begins at 10 a.m. and will be held at the Harvard Art Museums.
