Boston Duck Tours

Explore Boston Harbor on one of the popular Boston Duck Boats on your next visit to Massachusetts. Boston Duck Boats is a privately owned company offering departure locations throughout Boston – at the New England Aquarium, the Prudential Center, and the Museum of Science. Operating in Boston since 1997, Boston Duck Tours have become one of the most popular attractions in the state. Rides on the Duck Boats range in time, from 80 minutes to 65.

The Boston Duck Boats are modified versions of the DUKW, a six-wheeled amphibious vehicle designed, in part, by GMC for use in World War II. The DUKW was named by GMC, not the military – the D indicates it was designed in 1942, the U stands for Utility, the K indicates it has driven front wheels, and the W means it has two, powered rear axles. The Boston Duck Boats also act as parade vehicles in Boston whenever a sports team wins a championship, carrying players and coaches on the parade route.
